| A Vision:
While visiting a patient with Dementia, Noreen had a discussion with the patients
husband and she saw how over burdened he was in caring for his wife. He himself was aging
and there he was taking care of his wife full time. He clearly needed help and his grown
children had jobs and families of their own. When she mentioned getting help from an
agency, he was reluctant to have someone he did not know or trust come in to his home and
take care of his wife. At this point Noreen knew she could make a difference. What if she
developed a business that truly focused on individual attention. Noreens plan was to
only hire those that could pass a rigorous training process, To hire people with
compassion and dedication. There are many good agencies out there but Noreen wanted hers
to be different.
She wanted to provide individual attention to all clients. Not
simply sending out a caregiver and hoping all goes well. She believed it was important to
match personalities between the client and caregiver, and most importantly, keeping
continuity within the home. As a client it is difficult to allow someone to enter your
house whom you do not even know let alone have him or her care for your personal needs.
That is why Noreen felt it was important to meet the client first, assess the clients
needs and personality. Noreen and her team then gets to work figuring out who the best
caregiver is for that particular case. Noreen then personally introduces the caregiver to
the client so that the clients can decide for themselves if the match is suitable. |
